The 34th annual Flagler Home & Lifestyle Show returns this weekend with a full slate of vendors, food options and entertainment.

If family fun is on your weekend agenda, the Florida Technical Institute has you covered. The 34th annual Flagler Home & Lifestyle Show returns Saturday and Sunday to Flagler Palm Coast High School with something for everyone.

The event features indoor food vendors, food trucks, arts and crafts, a service fair, a new and improved kids’ zone and more, according to organizers.

"It is one of the major events in Flagler County and we’re just blessed to be able to hold it and to be able to serve Flagler County," said FTI director Renee Stauffacher. "And at the same time, the proceeds go right back into education in Flagler County and support local students right here."

Included in this year’s event will be a shooting simulator and drunken driving goggles simulator from the Flagler County Sheriffs Office, Stauffacher said.

For Vern Shank, owner of Pyramid DJs and Surf 97.3 Radio, the Home Show is a natural addition to his calendar.

For the past three or four years, Shank and the team from Surf 97.3 will be on hand broadcasting live from the event. He said the time and effort required to set up the broadcasting equipment is worth it.

On the radio station side, it offers an opportunity to give back to the community and on the DJ side, the event gives Shank a chance to introduce the company to a broad mix of residents.

Shank said since the radio station is more a labor of love than a profit center, being part of a big community event is a great fit.

"We love meeting people," he said. "It’s not about making money, it’s more about the community than it is about a business."

Meeting new people and interacting with the community is also why acupuncturist Scott Beat has been a long-time presence at the Home Show.

"We’ve been doing it for over 20 years," he said. "It’s a perfect vehicle to meet the public halfway."

Beat said a lot of people are curious about acupuncture and have questions, but don’t necessarily want to come into the office.

"The Home Show is a great opportunity to meet the public on their ground, where they can walk in and ask me questions without a commitment and find out what it is all about," he said. "It’s a great event for people to come face-to-face with what I do and I really enjoy talking about what I do."

With 10,000 people expected to visit the show over the weekend, all of the vendors can share their passions and interests with the public.

"We’ll have plenty of free parking and shuttle service, so come and enjoy the show," Stauffacher said.
